Terms of Service

1. Description of Service

Budgety is a personal finance management application that allows you to record income, expenses, and investment snapshots in order to track your financial situation over time. The Service is provided as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) product accessible via a web browser.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By agreeing to these Terms you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use.

3. Account Registration

• You must provide accurate and complete information when registering.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must notify us immediately at support@budgety.no if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable law.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
• Use the Service to store or transmit malicious code.
• Resell, sublicense, or otherwise make the Service available to third parties without our prior written consent.
• Interfere with the proper operation of the Service or other users' access to it.

5. Subscription and Payment

Certain features of the Service may require a paid subscription. Pricing, billing cycles, and cancellation terms will be displayed at the point of purchase and form part of these Terms. All prices are stated inclusive of applicable VAT where required by Norwegian law.

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods unless required by applicable consumer protection law.

6. Financial Data Disclaimer

Budgety is a personal record-keeping tool and does not provide financial advice, investment recommendations, or accounting services. The information displayed is based solely on the data you enter. We make no representations as to the accuracy or completeness of any data or calculations. You should consult a qualified financial adviser for advice specific to your circumstances.

7. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the Service — including software, design, trademarks, and content we create — remain the property of Budgety. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our name, logo, or other branding.

Your data remains your own. We claim no ownership over the financial records you enter into the Service.

8. Availability and Changes

We aim to keep the Service available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice where possible.

We reserve the right to update these Terms. We will notify you of material changes by email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements or be free from errors.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Norwegian law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the amounts you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the breach.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We will retain your data for 30 days after termination, after which it will be permanently deleted, unless we are required by law to retain it longer.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Norwegian law. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms that cannot be resolved amicably shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Oslo District Court (Oslo tingrett).

If you are a consumer resident in another EEA member state, you may also have rights under the consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
